The 2023-24 program will be divided into three seasons:
– Two-month soft opening season starting in December 2023
– Season 1/2024 from February to July 2024
– Season 2/2024 from August 2024 to January 2025

Residency duration for self funded artists is flexible, and each season will close with a group exhibition of works produced by residents during their stay at A. Farm.

Shared studio at the ‘Tree House’
Resident artists will have access to a shared studio space equipped with essential tools and packing materials, providing a dedicated workspace for their creative projects.

Exhibition and performance space
Floor 6 at the Amanaki Thao Dien Hotel (located next door to the Tree House) will consist of exhibition space, and a common room for round table discussion, screening, performance and other events. Artists can use the space for meetings, reading and research.

Accommodation
Residents will stay at the Amanaki Hotel, which is conveniently located next to their studios at the Wooden House. This arrangement ensures a comfortable living space during their residency. Each room has a private bathroom and kitchenette. Artists also have access to the Amanaki Hotel’s other facilities such as a swimming pool and gym. This is a special feature for the 2023/24 program, while a dedicated A. Farm space is being built.

Introduction to the Saigon art scene
Resident artists will have the opportunity to explore and familiarize themselves with Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and its surrounding areas, which can be a source of inspiration for their work. A. Farm will offer an introduction to art spaces, galleries and other cultural organizations, allowing residents to connect with the local art scene. Monthly visits to artists’ studios, art spaces and galleries in Saigon, as well as additional trips to openings and art events in town will be part of the program.

Communal meals
Communal meals held regularly with both local and visiting artists, curators and members of the art ecosystem will encourage networking and cultural exchange. Each communal meal will also provide an opportunity for residents to share their ongoing progress with visitors.

Artist presentations
Artist presentations will provide a platform for resident artists to share their practices and stories with their peers. A. Farm will host a monthly artist presentation session and invite local artists, curator and other members of the local cultural scene.

A. Farm open studio events
Open studio events will allow the public to visit the artists’ working spaces, providing an opportunity for artists to engage with the local community and share their creative process.

Critique sessions
Critique sessions with the A. Farm / MoT+++ team, MoT+++ Collective, artists, and members of the local art scene will offer valuable feedback and constructive criticism to help artists develop their work and promote community involvement.

End of season exhibition
A group exhibition of the works produced during the residency at A. Farm will happen in June and December.

A. Farm talking partner project
A. Farm residents will be paired with a local artist in order to support their stay in Vietnam. This project makes the residency program more impactful for Vietnam’s art scene, promoting the exchange of ideas and experiences.

All Animals Are Equal
“All Animals Are Equal” is an inclusive open call to any artists working in or connected to Ho Chi Minh City. Artists are invited to bring artworks to A. Farm residency in a self-curated group hang, with space allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Video artists are included in a dedicated screening room, with sound and performance artists also featured in the event. All Animals are Equal has hosted two exhibitions which had about 150 artists for one week, making A. Farm and Saigon, a contemporary art hub in the region.
