Perrine Lievens is a French visual artist based in Paris. Her work uses familiar objects, challenging their perceived function to create imaginary and poetic realities. In doing so she offers an insightful replay of reality and invites the viewer to experience a reinvented world.

Often fragile and ephemeral, her sculptural installations expose her to real technical challenges which she considers as acts of resistance: to be able to retain fragile and ephemeral aspects of materials; do not let them faint; to allow them to enter the life of art without destroying them.

In this talk, Perrine will share insights into her practice and talk about her experiences and inspiration resulted from her 3-month residence at Villa Saigon, an artist residency program run by the French Institute Vietnam.
