To conclude her month-long “researcher-in-residence” performance at MoT+++, Maria Sowter will open her MA thesis to the public in a piece entitled “First Draft.” In her research of Vietnamese contemporary art in the context of globalization, Maria aims to de-privilege the position of the Western academic by opening her thesis to criticism and debate.

Audience members are invited to read and redraft Maria’s thesis in a further effort to collaboratively produce knowledge that is constructed of multiple voices and fully situated within the environment of the Saigon art world. From this position of locality, Maria aims to address questions of how friendships and personal relationships affect contemporary artists both inside and outside of Vietnam.

The audience is invited to visit the MoT+++ space to read and edit as they wish.
